About Me
- Basic Information
- How did you hear about KICKgen?
- I saw a commercial.
- Quote
- The winner is the one who tried the hardest, not the one that got 1st place.
- About me
-
I started Martial Arts when I was around 6 years old. We had found a little club through the Rec Department. My dad said I should give it a try. At first I wasn't very fond of the idea, but somehow I wound up there.
When I had joined, so did one of my closest friends at the time. So he drove with us to the club. We had gotten there about 45 minutes early, so we waited until people to show up.
One of the reasons I did not like it at the time, was because it was in the basement of a school. Another reason was because it was shortly after I got home from school. As class started, I realized there was only one instructor, so there would not be very much helping when people got stuck, or something like that.
As I rose through the ranks, I was able to spar, (when you were the 2nd belt) the classes were later, and I met more friends. I also got bored. A bad thing was if you miss a class, you have to make it up. When I was a green belt, (the fourth belt) I started missing classes due to homework and sickness.
One weekend, my dad said he visited the J.K. Lee school. He said I should watch a class. I hated the idea of switching schools. So eventually I took a private lesson there. When I went there, I met the one of the nicest instructor you could meet. He gave me the lesson with the basic kicking and punching. Then I broke my first board. Then I said I'd switch. At first I DID NOT want to go to these classes. Then I got used to it.
After about 4 months came "Big Saturday". My first tournament. When we were waiting to compete, I had what you would call, a "Stress Induced Meltdown". But that didn't stop me. I performed my form and took 2nd place, and broke my boards and got 1st place.
Then came my first testing. At first I was scared, then anxious. When I got my belt, I was so happy.
Next I was invited to the "K.I.C.K. team". Which was a team in which you would practice sword, bo-staff, and eskrima stick skills. K.I.C.K. stood for, Kids Inspiring Confidence in other Kids. Later when I was a brown belt, I was invited to the demo team. A team where you would perform demonstrations for crowds. I never really paid attention to it until I was a High-Brown belt. I had liked performing for small crowds of 8 or less people. To 20 to 40 people, or hundreds of people.
Once I got my red belt, I felt an even greater since of pride. I am only a year from my black belt. I have just recently competed in my 5th tournament and hope to do others. - Birthday
